Hi, im having a problem with my bmw 5 series 08 everytime when i start the engine there is a warning sign on. Vehicle Battery (increased battery discharged while stationary. Electrical consumers may have been switched off. Reset date and time if necessary) but after i reset date and time, the warning sign came back after 2,3 days. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to get it fixed.

    Thanks in advance

When was your battery last changed? Sounds like it could need replacing. I did a quick google of this problem and it seems to be a likely solution.

BMW seem to detect when battery is getting past it's best and give you fair warning..... we have 06 3 series and 07 7 series both with original batteries, the 3 has given the odd warning and the 7 quickly turns off accessories if engine is not running and gives recharge battery message.

Waiting until they fail completely of course...:D

Batteries are cheap. Preventative maintenance is always preferable, over getting stranded in the middle of no where. That would be my thinking about these things at least. I wouldn't run a 12 year old battery...

I cannot answer your question but I also have an issue with a five year old BMW I bought three months ago. Error warnings came on. BMW Assistance took the car away to fix. Provided a hire replacement car. The hire car company told me that much of their business is from defective BMWs.
    Perhaps this is not correct?

And get the new battery coded in or you will have more problems.
