Hi, I'm looking to buy eyeglasses online and wondering if its possible to get an eye test in my local optometrist use the report to order online? I'm specifically looking for Ray Ban type Clubmasters.

Anyone had any experience of this?

I used goggles4u, and also looked at glassesdirect. Yes, you can get the prescription but you need to measure pupilary distance (the sites tell you how). I got prescription reading glasses as I broke mine and Specsavers, where I had got them previously, were really slow in putting in an order. So I asked them for my prescription and, on the basis that they had the PD on file from my previous glasses, i asked them for it too. They did complain about providing it, but i just said that it is personal data and I want it in full, so they complied. PD is generally not part of standard prescription, it is measure at dispensing. Hope this is useful to you.

I've got glasses from Zenni Optical many times. Never had a problem with the lenses thought the frames can be a bit hit and miss fashion wise. One frame was like something Elton John would have worn in the 70's. Only got hit with import tax one time.

I would avoid Select Specs, their lenses and frames were very poor quality and I sent them back for a refund.
