Problems tuning walker smart tv

I just bought a new 32" walker smart tv and it will only tune in Irish channels, and rte1 is a very bad picture (unwatchable). On my old very basic tv I was able to get all Irish channels, uk ones like bbc etc, plus comedy central, mtv and sky 1? Just wondering am I missing something in the settings?

The cable you are plugging into the TV is a cable TV service.

In order to get Saorview you need an aerial.

Also if you scan the analogue tuner on your new TV you will get the stations you mentioned which are cable TV channels.

Hi, thanks for your reply, but im still a bit confused.. I have the tv cable plugged into the wall, which is attached to the aerial on the roof. I can get saorview channels when I search on digital aerial. I tried searching analogue tv but I don't get any of the extra uk channels?

Are the UK channels on higher numbers, 800 +

Thanks so much for your advise! I managed to change my preferences to digital aerial and analogue and found the channels I was missing!

The picture quality was poor on the extra channels so I bought a new cable for between the TV and aerial socket on the wall... Weirdly it's improved all my analogue stations perfectly, but now cannot pick up some saor view channels like rte1 and rte1 +1! I'm not too concerned about that though as I can get rte1 on my analogue!

Thanks again for your help! ðŸ˜

You must be in a strong Saorview signal area, & the original cable was acting as an aerial, but your new one seems to be doing the job it's actually supposed to be doing.

I don't think you actually have an 'aerial on the roof', or it's not connected to the wall socket in question anyway.

Sounds like you are connected to the UPC analogue service at the moment.
