    Hi

Looking at travelling to the UK and want to use my phone as sat nav. I know you can download google maps offline and use it there but this does not give the option of voice and more than likely to get a lost a couple of times. I am on PAYG with Three and the data limit is 6gb so with general use I would expect to go over this. I believe that if I top up by €20 one day and then another €20 the following day that my limit of data will be upped to 12 gb is this correct? I also have a UK Tesco phone and they have a rocket pack of £20 for 8gb.

I have google maps,Maps.me,Sygic and waze apps on my phone but I think only Google and Waze compatible with Android auto.

I could just mount phone and use that without using Android Auto but which app provides offline maps and voice navigation or do any without data been on?

If the EU hadn't meddled you'd have had unlimited data.....

Topping up two days in a row won't net you 12GB, its 6GB/28 days.

Think I have to top it up by €20 and monitor it until it gets close to the 6gb and then top up again.

google maps averages around 6 megs of data for 10 minutes (according to google search)..... by my (possibly incorrect) calculations 6 gigs of data would get you 166 hours of driving....so I would not worry too much unless you are going to do a shocking amout of driving

    Check out Here Maps.

It's free, you can download offline maps for the whole country.

Also you can get a 3 UK sim, which will give you 5gb for £15.

Have that also but not compatible with Android Auto. The offline maps are grand but was looking for one that has voice also and offline don't do this
