My blatant misuse of Boards users. A confession.

There are discussions about it but I think probably not... I'm not sure its something I'm wild to have videoed and online forever more so that would make me feel somewhat uncomfortable

I've lived a pretty crazy life and I've been through a lot. More than anyone here knows so I'm torn between wanting to share those experiences, some of which are fairly dark, and where they brought me with the people present, and the risk / impact of having that information out there. It would certainly be on my mind during the talk... there's some unpleasant stuff I want to talk about. So its not really ego,modesty or shyness that's stopping me but rather a basic level of concern for myself and an understanding that once that information is out there, its not possible to control any further and the ramifications of that.

For example, you might be happy to talk about, say, your sex life with your friends but you might not want a video of that being sent to your mother?

I understand the complexity as you describe

and I would say this, people experience their own views of your experiences and they arent identical they can offer an interesting perspective, things you thought about motives, intentions and reactions are often not how others see things (mothers particularly)

Its your choice of course, Id simply ask you to keep revisiting why you are doing it and is it worth 100% commitment or isnt it? Is there a half way point that would add to your presentation in terms of humanity or insight and still leave you and yours safe?
