Broken hand twice 2015 and 2018 (only two days ago)

So as the title read I'm after breaking my hand again, fist time was due to a fall and the second which only happened a couple of days ago was from punching my punch bad the wrong way, I hit the base without gloves :o and it was like rock. Should of known better.

I'm just slightly concerned, I wasn't really told much and didn't ask enough questions, I was put in a half cast and had to wait an hour while the doctor waited for the consultants advice, I was then told to come back to the fracture clinic a week later to meet the consultant for a check up I presume.

My main question is am I out of the woods regarding an operation on account of the fact they didn't do it then and there? In general terms it wouldn't be common to wait a week and then decide to operate? would that or could that be normal procedure?

Reason I'm worried is I narrowly avoided an operation the first time.

Hard to know to be honest, when i injured my hand and a break was suspected a light cast was put on to immobilise it so a consultant could have a look a week or ten days later when the swelling had gone down.. Sounds like the same thing here..
