Hello everyone hope you all had a great weekend.

I've done some searching but can't seem to find a clear answer as to what procedure I need to follow if I wanted to have my disability allowance paid into a different bank account. Is it as simple as filling out the EFT form?

    https://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.welfare.ie/en/pdf/eft.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwimzIHMz4faAhUMjqQKHekJDf8QFjAAegQICBAB&usg=AOvVaw3PZYvxMRJbQvSv0S3v02ZQ

One matter that may complicate things a bit is I want to have my payment switched to a German bank account. I am an Irish citizen and am fully resident here, is it even allowed to have a social welfare payment paid into a non Irish bank account?

Even if it is just an N26 account be prepared for serious red flags to be raised if you ask for payment to be made to a German account. Could you setup a standing order from your current account to your German one to transfer it automatically each week?

It is as simple as completing that form but as your not entitled to get DA if your not living here then I’d predict that your payment will be suspended on application while you’re current whereabouts are ascertained.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my opening post but I'm Irish and live permanently.

I realize that but SW are alert to certain red flags one of which would be a foreign bank account.

Ok sorry I misunderstood you, thanks for your input

Ditch ulster, and get a free EBS account and use this for DA and move money between it and N26 as needed. Gives you an Irish bank account for free and you have all the benefits of your N26.

N26 is a great product but operating in Ireland with a German account is always going to be tricky even though it shouldn't be.

    I switched accounts before Christmas.

I had to fill in an EFT form and write a letter.

They asked me for a letter from the bank confirming it was my account.

Took 8 weeks for the switch to go through. Thankfully it happened just before the holidays.

Thank you everyone for your input. Today I phoned the Department in Longford and was told I need to write a letter containing the details of the new account and sign it, then they would consider it the lady I spoke to seemed very unsure whether they would be able to pay into a non-Irish account. But anyway, guess I just have to wait to find out.

Come back and let us know how the "random" audit went. :)

Just joking would be very interested to see how they cope with this. Indeed there is a government body that lists N26 in their comparison of banks (switchyourbank.ie) so it should be easy for you to explain.
