Crack on top of (year old) multifuel stove

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

We have a 10cm crack on the top of our multifuel cast iron Heritage stove. The stove was installed last March and we did everything as advised, it was professionally installed, I was careful not to let it get too hot with a thermometer attached to the flue, and there is no other damage to the bricks, baffle or grate (the parts that are designed to wear and be replaced). It's a mystery to us as to what caused this and what to do next. I assume this is not normal or easily repairable? Any advice greatfully received.

That is not normal, it sounds to me like a manufacturing fault, how deep is the crack, could it just be a scratch ? first thing i would do is get in contact with the shop you bought it from, and give the installers a ring and tell them what has happened, as all the replaceable parts for the stove are in good condition, you would think they would show signs of wear if the stove was overheated.

Thanks Cranefly, sound advice, and I'll get onto it tomorrow. It's not a scratch, when the stove is cool and I remove the baffle, I can see the light shining through if I shine a torch from outside.
