    Thanks

Its part of the early Easter Sale which ends tomorrow - 26th March so you need to get your skates on.

Can you go to Strabane or Derry where you can buy buy it in Argos for the same price? In fact you can reserve it and maybe someone can pick it up or alternatively if you pay in advance Argos will hold it for a week.

Just be aware that the price will also change in Argos after tomorrow as they have to sell at the same price as Amazon.

Amazon limit the qty that can be purchased to two per account, which is a stupid decision imo.

Thanks OP I also had a tenner off in a voucher. So got it for £19.99. Have 1st generation stick I find it great.

Am I right in saying you can load apps on this and use as a steaming device?

(i.e. is this a good solution as a cheap Android box and what do I miss out on versus buying a box?)

Have a Fire Stick on my 2 TV's and can't recommend them enough..

.. even just for the likes of Kodi, All4 and Netflix.

Tis a nippy device and very compact - unlike most Android boxes.

Handy one for anyone that has Virgin Media TV. Installed the Virgin Media TV app on the fire stick. Logged in and worked away perfect. Surprised it did as Sky Go only works on limited device's. It's like getting an additional box for free. Most the basic channels are on there. It's mobile phone user interface so the screen is massively stretched when looking at the TV guide but perfect then the channel is actually playing.

    Also have RTE Player installed.

Thanks, i didn't see the Easter Sale thread there :p

I know one's that go to Stabane weekly, only they're on holiday, sometimes i usually get stuff a lot cheaper there than L'kenny:eek:

But then i wouldn't have gotten the below:

    • Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote | Streaming Media Player £29.99 £24.99 - Quantity: 1
      £5.00 discount applied

      Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
Either i had it in my account or they gave it in the promotion?

Also they had various means of post available, i chose One-Day Delivery, although i assume that some/most wouldn't apply if it was sent to Ireland?

    Choose your Prime delivery option:
£4.49/item Express Delivery : get it by 1pm tomorrow, Mar. 27
FREE One-Day Delivery : get it tomorrow, Mar. 27
FREE Standard Delivery : get it by Wednesday, Mar. 28
FREE No-Rush Delivery : get it by Tuesday, April 3
Get a £1 Digital Video, Kindle Book & Digital Music Credit. Details

Also they gave me Prime, not that i was looking for it:
    Welcome to Amazon Prime

, you successfully started your Amazon Prime Free Trial! You can now enjoy unlimited FREE One-Day Delivery, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Photos and Prime Reading. You will also receive an e-mail with more details about your Amazon Prime membership. Don't forget to finish placing your order.

I wasn't too sure if it starts straightaway, but i'll have a look to see what's on offer, has anyone used this before?

Apps2Fire was highly recommended to me & i found it very easy to use!

I've asked this in the past but can Prime Video be accessed via Fire TV Stick (1st Generation) now in Ireland.

Not really, you'll have loads of stuff on screen you can't watch unless you subscribe to the UK prime video and use a smart dns or vpn.

Get it. I have one. Great for netflicks .

I also just discovered that I can side load showbox and RTE player on it. You can use plex to stream from your computer as well. Kodi is a pain in the arse though. Never really works.

Does RTE player work ok? Last time I tried it on the stick it was a mess.

Yes. You have to use the Downloader app and get tinyurl firestick mouse. Then you can scroll. I think there is a thread on here about it somewhere. search rteplayer on the firestick. Makes showbox work as well.

Its also handy to have the firestick remote phone app. Makes typing words much quicker

First one was released late 2014 and this one was released late 2016.

You can also sideload terrarium tv.

Brilliant! Thank you, I can't wait to try that out tomorrow now.
You are sideloading RTE player I assume?

It turns out that i did have that £5 in my account, but Amazon don't show that until you get to the final order stage, last time i was on Amazon was last year & can't remember getting that in the account?

Was handy using that 1 day delivery as it arrived in my local PO on Thursday morning, from buying it on Mon, arrived in addresspal on Wed.

Afaik this is 2nd Gen, i haven't gotten around to trying out the free trial of Amazon Prime, are you saying you can't watch it?

I had a free trial in the past and Amazon Prime and video arent worth a **** here in Ireland. I could see no benefit from Prime other than the odd special offer on some of their products where Prime members get something at a lesser price.

Prime video is much the same. Most of the decent films and box sets are not available in Ireland. Basically what you get is the same as what you can view if you were away on a foreign holiday.

    Actually from today

From 1 April new rules make it possible for Europeans to enjoy their online film subscriptions when they travel in another EU country the same they do at home.

But it still means that Irish viewers aren't allowed watch UK content.

Just on the video, you should get more than the UK traveling abroad section. I found if you use the phone app to browse then tap 'play on firestick' the selection was better. Otherwise go to the primevideo.com website if on PC.
Still not as good as the UK catalogue and not as much 4k/HDR stuff though.

If you have a paid Sky Q subscription, is there a way to get Sky content onto the Fire stick e.g. can the SKY Q app be installer via downloader (or other) onto the fire stick?
Looking for a substitute for another sky q mini.

Doubtful. I tried before with Sky Go on several android devices and the App checks the Android OS & Device being used. If they don't like it the App won't play content. I use Virgin Media's App on the Firestick. Works well. The menu is stretched as it is optimized for mobile but still readable and the actual video content plays fine.

    Hope this helps.
