Getting a dealer to sell a car on my behalf?

Is it common for a main dealer to sell my 2014 car for me.
It has full service history and is mint but getting people to part 15k for a car off donedeal no matter how genuine and mint it is, is impossible. My thinking (maybe wrong) is if the car retails with a dealer for say €15k (I give the dealer a €1000 or even €1500 handling fee); he is quids in and me also as selling on donedeal is a race to the bottom and hard to draw people into coming looking at it. People like to trade their car in and get a warranty. Have the car up atm for €13950 which is less than main dealers and about same price as buying in NI and paying VRT then.

Someone buying a car from a dealer in the UK will have a warranty & psssibly a higher spec, buying from you they won’t. I reckon the formula to sell a car is work out the cost to import from the UK and then knock a grand or so off.

Not what you want to hear but it’s a different market now between UK imports and pcp’s.

I have sold a car via a dealer and it was painful but that was likely specific to th dealer. Best bet is to find a dealer to buy it off you.

Would a warranty on a mainland UK import be of any use to someone living in Ireland?

It depends on the manufacturer, some do and some don't.

A main dealer will be giving at least a 3 month warranty when he sells your car.
What if the car breaks down under warranty. Are you going to cover that cost?
Main dealers dont really need that kind of grief for a €1000 or so handling fee.

Yes of course, why not, sure it’s just a just a few hours on the ferry. You have more comeback buying in the uk from a dealer than privately in ROI.
