Unusable sunroom/conservatory

I have a large 6M x 4M sunroom/conservatory. It is a huge space but at present it is unuseable. It has a 4ft block wall running around it, then it is glass with a full glass roof....probably cost a fortune for the person who installed it

During the winter it is way too cold, even with heating turned on and 2 large radiators.

During the summer it is far too warm, even today I opened the door and the blast of heat was unreal. I have the room blocked off at the moment to the rest of the house using triple glazed sliding doors. I had to do this because it was just sucking out the heat during the winter.

The room has 2 light/fans but even with them going full blast and trying to open windows it doesn't work. The heat just builds up.

I am wondering what I could do? I price a company to replace the roof and they said circa €4,500.

Just wondering what options would be available?

I cheated and lined the roof of my sunroom with lightweight timber t&g laths - just screwed them with small screws into the metal/PVC frame. I drilled a very fine guide hole for each screw. I put a layer of rigid insulation between the glass and the laths. It has worked fine and been a huge improvement for the 5 years or so since I did it. This was a quite small, lean-to roof. I don't think I would do it in a larger roof as the existing roof would probably not be designed to take the extra weight. Do something about it though, it will be like having a new extra room.

Isn't there some ad on the TV claiming to solve this heat/cold problem for you

You could have a quick attempted fix with coriboard, white sheets to reflect the sun back and if you had the thicker stuff it might help with the heat retention.

It's inexpensive, light and fire retardant. You could give one sheet a try.
