Integrated washer/dryer

Just bought an integrated washer/dryer and can clearly see the machine with the door closed (door is shorter in width than machine). Am I wrong in expecting the machine to be hidden from view altogether if the door is closed over on it? i.e. expect it to look like another cupboard? I have no prior experience of these devices, only dishwashers, which always looked like another cupboard to me - had expected the same of a washer/dryer.

    Are my expectations unrealistic?

Are you able to go to the kitchen supplier and get a replacement door?
or find a matching door from somewhere.

Sorted now! The kitchen supplier was proposing a 'workaround' which I wasn't happy with, so I insisted on the door being specially made. Cheers!
