I have been in my job in retail for over 10 years as part-time staff. Can the company take me legal action against me if I don't give the full 4 weeks notice?

What's the notice period in your contract?

Notice duration can be negotiated but your employer is always entitled to enforce the notice period in your contract

If you give them less than 4 weeks in theory they could take legal action (highly unlikely they would be bothered if you're in a part-time role) but if you don't serve out your notice you can probably forget about ever receiving a reference which would not be a great idea with 10 years service in that company on your CV
