My dad is entitled to the free tv licence due to his age.

I applied and to knowledge we never got any licence in the post.

Do they normally post it out or in exemption just put against the address?

Did you fill in a HBP form and send it off to Sligo ?
He would have to apply for the electrcity allowance too in order to get the free tv licence.
How old is he and who is living with him there?

Yes that form was filled in. 71 and living with me and my wife. We get the esb allowance.

Is the tv allowance means tested against household income?

Ok let’s see. So the electricity allowance is being applied to your home. When you applied for the electricity allowance you should have applied for the tv licence at the same time.
See the application form below, top of page 3.

    http://www.welfare.ie/en/pdf/hb1.pdf

If you did apply for it then they would have sent it to you.
It doesn’t look like a regular TV licence It’s really just a page that would have been part of the correspondence sent to you telling you that you were successful in your application.
