Fixing and selling cars in a housing estate

Hi, so recently I've noticed more and more cars from a neighbour about 20 houses away. I've since realised that they are fixing the cars up and selling them. They were parked on the bend which ended up blocking view from cars pulling out. Someone must have complained and instead they are parking cars right across the road from my houses car spot. They are not blocking me. They do however leave the car for about a week.

    They have approximately 7 cars.

Is this allowable? Is there anything I can do?

Are the cars insured, taxed and nctd ?

Contact council or Garda if causing a issue.

Possible breaches of planning and environmental legislation. Ring your local council.

I hadn't thought to look at the disks. I haven't actually seen them using them. I'm sure they do drive them, but I haven't seen them driven. Do they have to have all of them displayed?
They are not causing an issue yet, but its just not what I'd expect. I'd prefer them not to be there. I was thinking about contacting the council, I will do that tomorrow.

Would you not just speak with your neighbour first instead of looking to get Garda and council involved ?

Why do that he will then have no recourse when the neighbour tells him the feck off and the neighbour will know who told on him then.

People fixing cars at home won't change their business just because neighbour knocks on the door

You cannot run a garage from your house. And you most certainly wouldnt get planning permission to do it in a residential neighbourhood.

Getting the planning enforcement in the Council to do anything about it is another thing.

I suppose you could turn a blind eye until a real problem comes a long

My neighbour does the same, but he also seems to help all the neighbours out with their cars when they need it. Maybe he could do you a favor one day. Crazy world isn’t it

Don't get your problem with them.
It's very inconsiderate of one house to hog so many parking spaces. The 7 cars mentioned could become 14 or more.

some fellas have little to be worrying about, its his yard and if he wants to sell cars or machinery from there I don't see the problem

It's not affecting the OP though so why not live and let live

Council and guards will do feck all. See it happening everywhere.

A remember a fella doing this before outside his house and seen him fixing a guards car one night.

All about who you know in this world.

AGS are not involved in Planning matters

Matter for Planning Enforcement Section of the Council

There are local pros and cons re reporting such matters

It makes it harder for the guy up the road with a legit yard who pays

    disposal of waste oil/fluids
    insurance
    tax

A long while back I used to fix cars but never more than 3 at the time and they were projects rather than things to make a quick buck. Some neighbours seemed not to like it, guess what, these were the first ones to knock on my door when their car wouldn't start or needed diagnostics and/or expensive repair. I never refused to help and the message spread very quickly. I never had any harassment afterwards, quite opposite - people were giving me leads on cheap cars to fix.

A mechanic on your doorstep can be a pain but is also a valuable resource in the community. You might learn it sooner than you think!

Clearly it does , the Original post says
“Someone must have complained and instead they are parking cars right across the road from my houses car spot”
So obviously the neighbour changed where they parked the cars following some speaking to him ..

He is not selling cars from his yard, he is selling them from the side of the road.

I thought this was illegal and the Council could and would impound the cars.
