At least she had her Dolmio Day in court!

Delighted that the costs were awarded against her too. Ultimately she will probably end up not paying anything as the administration costs would likely outweigh the actual costs themselves but it should help make some people think twice before launching frivolous claims if they think they could be out of pocket if they are unsuccessful. Delighted for her solicitor too.

It came down to Dunne's have Simply Better evidence.

I admire fraudsters to a certain degree. Theyre the modern day bank robber. Do you think they'll ever start making movies about them? Connie and Lloyd.

I slipped on a wet floor in Dunnes once and hurt my arm. I got up as fast as I could mortified in case anyone had seen me. Maybe I could have ended up loaded. Guess I'll never know.

Dunnes won't care about how much it costs - they are known to chase costs even if the chasing costs more.

Her solicitor needs a good smack in the face for pursuing this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,883 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Any idea what the costs would be for this (I'm guessing 1 day) hearing.

    And also;

"I do get sharp pins and needles up through it. I can't straighten it."

Ah here, heres €20,000 then for your troubles...

Dunnes have the resources to force the issue regarding costs.

They should do it to set a precedent.

Push for a court order and have the Sheriff seize any assets to offset the debt.

If she has no assets of value force her into bankruptcy.

I suspect on a good % of the ‘winnings’

How many times do you read about 6/7 successful claims from the one person/family? Far too often, and they have no problem getting solicitors

I had a back injury year's ago had surgery and all on my back and my pelvis needed to be corrected also,it was bad.

I never lied or spoofed, was asked did I do any fishing etc....

There was a beautiful photo of me reeling in a seatrout in Sligo presented to the Judge, back in 1999...

He said "he's an honest man what bait were you using ?" I told him, he suggested I use a darker fly the next time..

Anyhow I was genuinely injured and had all the medical reports, company admitted liability.

But back then They'ed follow you with a pi

Was it anyone’s fault you received the back injury.? If it was I don’t see how it could be dismissed just because you were able to fish, presumably before the injury?

She said: "I looked at my hand and I saw the blood and I was in shock."

Asked if she had done anything when the jar hit the floor, Ms McDonagh replied: "No, I just left it there."

She said: "I was in shock. There was a load of blood."

All this over a cut finger.
How does she deal with her menstrual cycle so?

The time I lost my balance and fell lengthwise at the National Park exhibition near Killarney. I was too embarrassed to think of that; it was a misplaced wooden ledge that made me stumble and only a rope barrier. The staff, were so concerned etc.Later read a damages claim item.. But no way .

I meant to say back then they had pi people checking people out to see if they could reduce the payout by saying I wasn't that bad or made a great recovery etc

Fantatsic to see more judges wake up to these insurance scams

Her husband better start selling more carpets / laying driveways to pay the costs.

Dunnes will not let her off.

Serves her right and hopefully more insurance scammers get the same treatment.

'Baby finger' sounds like something a child loses, puts under their pillow for the finger fairy, and then grows a new adult finger.

I was confused for the first few paragraphs especially because they went on to mention she had her nephew with her.

Case thrown out of court by judge is now suing judge due to injuries suffered by said throwing!

There was a case today of a staged car crash. Car hire company had the video of their movements.
Judge threw it out and referred it to AGS. Also ruled against them on costs.

Lots of people who have genuine reason to sue choose not to because they don't want to make a fuss over something small.

We had a glazier working for us once and he came into work one day with a stitch on his forehead. I asked him what happened and he said 'I slipped on ice yesterday coming down off a ladder and bumped my head'. I said 'jaysus, you should probably report it and at least get your medical expenses back off the company' and he said 'Why? It was my fault, I should have been more careful' which I thought it was as good an answer as any. A lot of the Polish are like that IME, they would take it as a matter of pride and professionalism.

Ah I know they're scum, I would just like to think they have some professional pride. I remember being in court (working) one day during the High Court Sessions and a local solicitor had a case thrown out because it was basically a load of BS and the whole place was whispering and sniggering. That went on for months, until the next Sessions.
You'd think they'd be embarrassed to put forward a load of nonsense like this case!

    Don't give up so easily!

    1. Go back to Dunnes with your child or kidnap any random child if you don't have one handy.
      1. Bonus: You can now claim against the dole as a caretaker for the child. More monies!
    2. Get the child to knock some jar holding a liquid onto the floor.
    3. Walk over the now wet floor.
    4. Slip.
    5. ????
    6. Retire to Spain.

    You're welcome.

This wasn't a genuine case. It was staged to defraud the car hire company and the insurers.
Judge was right in referring it to the Gardai

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭tretorn

Name is McDonagh and case was in Ennis, enough said.

Dunnes wont bother going after her, they wont get a cent, neither the Gardai nor the Courts will help them
