Due to head back to Ireland after 10 years in London.
I own a Nissan xtrail since the start of October 2017. There's an exemption on VRT for owning over 6 months but is by days or months?
I have bill of sale, tax, insurance etc to prove and pay checks, utility bills, mortgage docs to prove I lived here and drove it but what docs do they really require and how thorough are they?
Anyone on here went through the same situation that can share their experience and the process?
    Ta

6 months is six months and you won’t get away with less than that without extenuating circumstances. They will look for the termination of your employment and residence in the U.K. and taking up of employment and residence here. If that evidence shows that you were living here before 6 months (3/10 to 3/4 is 6 months, for example) then you will likely not get the exemption. If intending to live Inn dublin then you need to apply by post to Revenue in Tallagjt. In other districts, you may be able to do it face to face.
