Hedging advice

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and looking for a bit of advice. We have a small low-walled front garden with a small driveway. Total walled area is approximately 6m long x 5m wide. I'm looking to put in a bit of hedging all the way around the front garden wall on all 3 sides, so probably 14m coverage in total (with around 3m for car). We are looking to put in hedging that will be somewhat fast growing and to act as a bit of privacy screening. We don't need to go too tall or thick, 1.5m - 2m high would suffice.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to go for and what might be good to plant at this time of the year?

    Thanks

What do you like and what seems to grow well in your neighbourhood??

Do you want evergreen, or deciduous??, colour or monochrome.

    Thorns for security ??

Hedges take up a lot of room in a small garden. Any shrub will be half a metre thick, most will be more: so you will lose several square metres at least. Also, they take several years to achieve that privacy screen, and they need maintenance eg clipping or pruning.

Not wishing to rain on your parade, but you'd get a quicker result with fencing. Woodlap or concrete panel lap, or wattle...there are various types.
