Brake pads

Hi. Currently looking at buying a manual petrol. Had a look at the skoda inspection report and the front brake pads have just had to be replaced. Less than 30,000km. Car is 161.

I would expect brake pads to last twice that length usually. Anything to be concerned about or query with the dealer?

I would imagine its quiet uncommon for the brake pads to be replaced so early?

Anybody with advise really much appreciated.

    Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. It all depends on how it was driven, and type of driving. Lots of stop start stuff would see the pads wear faster than someone who spends all day on the motorway.

It is a bit soon but not something I would worry about.
As said, driving style will affect their life.
Also cheapo pads will not last as long as good brand ones, diff compounds.

Yeah it depends on driving style. You'd see plenty of cars that do exclusively town driving getting brake pads every second service.

That and for a car to be "Skoda Approved Used", brake pads at 50% or less remaining will be replaced. 50% remaining is still plenty of brake pad that would comfortably go to the next service in most cases if it was in private ownership and not being resold.
