Well head outside pump-house

We've bought a new house recently, and it has a bore-hole well.

There's a pump-house on a concrete base with an expansion vessel inside as well as some wiring/pipes. One thing we noticed was that the well-head (we've since better covered this than the photos with a thick plastic cowl). itself is just outside the shed. Wondered if this is common or if there's a reason this wasn't also kept inside the pump-house?

We were thinking of eventually building this as a block-shed with a proper roof more fitting with the house at some stage.

It's not uncommon and provided it's sufficiently protected from damage and from freezing it's not necessarily a problem.

It's better outside in most cases as it's easier to pull the Pump up as and when something goes wrong, Which it in evidently will.
