    Hi guys:)

I am picking my lc subjects after easter and am hoping to study medicine after school. Im currently in TY. The subjects im thinking of are spainish, biology, chemistry and music however in terms of playing piano i was about to do the Grade 2 exam but sadly stopped the lessons. Apparently you need at least grade 4 for leaving cert practical which im willing to work on over the summer however i took art for JC and got a B in both music and art. My parents think i should take art because i can get the work done in class and i dont need to be worried about an exam in june but im not naturally amazing at it and because ll most likely take two science subjects I dont want to pick a lot of heavy subjects. Just wondering if any1 has any advice? or know if starting back at piano now will be ok?

    1.2% H1 at Art
    3.3% H1 at Music
make of that what you will.

Two years to do two more grades in Piano is certainly possible. There is also the Music Technology section which many people find quite accessible.

Not sure what you meant about no exam in Art? Have they dropped the History of Art exam?

Hi, you still have to do history of art in june as an exam but everything else is during the school year i think?! Thanks for the music advice, would you be in competition with people at higher grades doing the practical or do the examinars not compare performances?

They assess you according to the marking scheme. Doesn't matter who was in before or after you. Choose pieces you are comfortable playing to a high standard, rather than fiddly show-off pieces that might go a bit awry.

If you think you'll be at a grade 5 standard for piano by sixth year then by all means go for music:) (They say you should be around grade 5/6)
