1.6 fsi camshaft sensor (audi a3)

    Anybody changed one DIY?
    Car is an 2008 audi A3 petrol.
    haven't even looked into the engine bay yet but not seeing any guides online at all.
    Done even know where to start looking for it :o

    It’s on top of the engine. You’d change it in 2 minutes. But they aren’t troublesome. Are you sure the chain hasn’t stretched?

    Looks like I jumped the gun on it being the sensor.
    Car would turn over a few times and quit.
    Epc and engine management light on.
    No stored codes (odb11).
    Tried it a few times then tried it with a bit of right foot and it started like normal and errors gone.
    Started 10times normal since
    since.
    Are they know for stretching belts? Don't have much history on it.

    The chains do stretch but it’s nowhere near as common as on the 1.4TSI.

    Doesn’t sound like the issue here in any case. I assumed you must have had a cam sensor related fault code that led you to suspect the sensor.

    Actually, is it an FSI or is it the old 1.6 8v engine?
