Qashqai alternatives?

My mother had a 2011 Quashqai diesel which she just wrote off. She loved the car but she was mis-sold a diesel as she only does tiny mileage. She also hates how long it takes to heat up. Looking at another but petrol, but a mate says they are terrible cars, awful mpg and reliability.

What others should she look at? She liked the high driving position but does not want any thing bigger than it. Any suggestions?

What sort of budget do you have? Could see stretch to a Mk2 Qashqai from 2014 onwards? They are available in 1.2 petrol. Not a whole lot of petrol options in the crossover market depending on the budget.

Mrs CML has a Nissan Juke. She professes to be happy with it and it has the high driving position. She has a petrol version.

Well if your mate said it....

The 1.6 petrol in the first generation Qashqai wasn’t a great engine and needs a 6th gear but not sure where he’s getting reliability claims from!

I’ve lived with the 1.2 petrol for a year now as a second car and it’s a far better engine. You’d need to get 2014 onwards though.

10k max - 9k preferred. Not many petrols around as people have said!

What about the Tiguan? Similar driving position. So many people were talked into diesels for the years you’re talking that’s the problem.

If the high seating position is key then maybe something like Hyundai i20?

I would get another opinion on this, a petrol is probably the way to go if doing low mileage, can't understand there being any issue with reliability if one has a good service record.

Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSi if you can find one.
