2011 Mondeo hazard lights coming on and boot opening.

Bit of a weird one for me anyway. It just happened this morning and again at lunchtime.

When I start the car, the hazards come on and the boot opens by itself. Has anyone ever heard of/experienced this before? I'm thinking something is shorting or my car is possessed!

    Thanks,

Update car wouldn’t start this evening leaving work. New starter me thinks!

It could be the battery in this cold.
A bad battery can cause all kinds of weird issues.

Can you measure the voltage? If not any mechanic will be able to diagnose it for you.

Hi sorry for bringing up an old thread but the exact same thing is happening to my car, 2011 Mondeo.
Hazards coming on and boot opening when I started it the last couple of days then when leaving work today it wouldn't start.
Did you get to the bottom of it in the end?
    Thanks.

In that case I will need an exorcist rather than a mechanic.
Maybe Pope Francis can take a look when he is over at the weekend.

Disconnect the boot lid wiring harness (I'm not sure where it can be accessed from, try Google) and then see if the problem continues.

Turns out my car was on the original battery, so I replaced it and problem solved.
