Old Self employed tax bill coming back to haunt?

So when I owned a business back in the early 2000s I had to fold it due to it failing and emigrate and paid off partial payments on the tax bill relating to it. I have no other debts. The last time I remember getting a letter about it 5/6 years ago it said I owed about €4000. Since returning to Ireland 6 years ago I’ve been PAYE and when claiming tax credits etc for med1 expenses they keep approving it which I thought was strange. I’ve now inherited a small piece of land with €5 k per year rental income which I will be declaring later this year. Do you think the €4K is gone / written off or will it resurface now?
