    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had an is220d remapped? And what were the results?

I believe it's only been possible to remap them for the last 2 years or so and there doesn't seem to be much feedback online.

    Mine is a 2006 model.

I've not remapped one, but removing the DPF certainly added a few HP

Also keeping the EGR valve clean helps enormously

How often do you recommend cleaning the egr valve?

I've a year or every 15k km should be the minimum. They get rather dirty, but thankfully very easy to clean. Just get yourself a can or two of carb cleaner bufore you start, to make the job much easier

    OP, what miles/year is car?
Are you asking about remap because you think car is down on power?

Start as said with cleaning things and then if you need more power consider remap.

    It's a 2006. 210k kms so about 130k miles.

No loss of power issues, thankfully. Car appears mechanically perfect.
I just read that the remap takes away that hesitancy below 2000rpm that all is220s appear to suffer from and makes the 6th gear more useable within Irish speed limits.

Will clean the egr as a start as other posters have suggested.

Went to clean egr valve, appeared to have cleaned quite recently.
Car running perfect. So anybody got any experience of remaps on these?

No experience myself , but they should remap quite nicely to well over 200BHP and a useful serving of extra torque to help with the long 6th gear.

Aren't these notroious for Headgasket issues though?

Nearly every is220d I see of that vintage seems to have plumes of blue smoke puffing out the back

I've heard about the headgasket issues alright! This seems to be a pretty good example to be fair. No issues with headgasket, dpf or egr. No smoke either! Perhaps the previous owner has sorted these issues!

I bought a tuning box for one as second gear was doing my head in, lovely car but ruined by one of the worst gearboxes ever put in a car. The tuning box improved it a good bit, remap would probably do the same thing.
Still have the box out in the shed I think, it'd be bought very right ; )
