Rendered Brick Wall - Insulation

    Hi folks,

I'm unsure as to how best insulate the rear of a red brick terraced house. The wall has been completed rendered in a sand/cement mix that is in good condition. However, there is penetrating damp in one corner which I believe is coming from a leaking gutter directly overhead (see pics). First step is to fix the guttering and then allow the wall to dry out.
Does the fact that it is rendered have any bearing on performance if I decide to go for EWI?
Also, if I go down the IWI route, would I still have to ensure that the insulation is breathable?

    Any advice is much appreciated!
