    Hi

A family member done up a old shed from the 1800s about 14 years ago with out getting planning, but now wants to apply for retention.

Just wondering are they likely to give planning permission now or could there be fines etc?

Too many variable to give an answer without first hand knowledge on the ground.
Does it meet one of dwelling standards.
    Private open space.
    Parking.
    Foul and surface water treatment.

Thanks for your reply. Yes the house is actually beside another original house on the property. It has its own electrical supply, water and a septic tank shared with other house.Has parking and is a perfectly livable house

Perfectly livable house and a compliant house are 2 separate things.
Talk to a local plannning agent and take it from there.

You will have to factor levies etc
