North Facing Extension - Insulation for roof

We have a small extension of roughly 7.5 m2 which is in need of insulation . This is a utility room and has 2  north facing external walls which are un insulated .We are thinking of getting these walls internally insulated but I feel that this alone will not make a difference and we will have to get the current small lean to roof in the utility insulated as well ?
I read 2 ways to do this , one being to slab the ceiling internally and the 2nd being to retro fit roof insulation - remove tiles , cut timer battons and then spray foam insulation and then reseal the roof. Both are equally messy imo . Not having planned this earlier on we are now thinking what is the best insulation option here ?
Any suggestion will be great .
