We built an extension onto our property which was exempt from planning.

I'm wondering if we built over it to make it 2 storey would it require pp or be exempt?

    Most likely planning required.
Is the current extension to the rear, front or side.

Hi it was built onto the rear through a grant called home adaptation grant for a disabled person and it got an exemption.

Exemption at ground floor 40 sq. m
Exemption at first floor 12 sq. m

The 12 has to be taken from the ground floor so now max is 28 at ground. Also distance to boundary of 2m.

Very limited at first floor without planning but there’s slight changes for detached houses.

Best get someone on the ground to advise or post a photo of the rear elevation here.
