Receiving house sale proceeds from solicitor - reasons for delay

Hi- my elderly mother was left a quarter share in house in another county 12/18 months ago. My mother and other three beneficiaries all agreed to sell the house and use the same solicitor to handle the sale. The sale finally closed 2 weeks ago but my mother has not yet received her share of the proceeds from the solicitor and is getting very worried. The solicitor has not been taking her calls about it and my mother has been given spurious reasons for this ie. “He is out for coffee/lunch”, “he is leaving early today” etc

My mother is planning on paying her own Capital Gains Tax on the proceeds while the other beneficiaries have empowered the solicitor to do this for them.

Is a 2 week delay something to be worried about? When I have sold houses I have received the money into my bank within 48 hours of closing. Are there any good reasons for a delay like this - if so would be good to hear them as they would put my Mum at ease while she is waiting for the solicitor to answer. She is very anxious about it.

    Thanks

Suggest you email the solicitor to know the position.
There may be undertakings to be complied with etc
