Triton thermostatic Power Shower

Had a new Bathroom fitted with new shower - Triton AS2000XT. Shower very unpredictable - many times water starts then stops. I take down shower head to get water flowing but it could take about 5 mins before I can put shower head back up for it to work again. Plumber says it is a problem with the Triton shower and they should come out to check it. Do you think it is a plumbing problem or a problem with the shower itself. Thank for any replies.

Did the shower ever work correctly?

    Does the water splutter?

Is it the same on hot & cold?

Yes it was fine for about 1 month then it has started to happen in the second month. I keep the dials for temp and pressure just where the plumber set them and when it works the temp and pressure are fine. I don't touch anything.

I forgot - it did happen about twice in the beginning but it settled down then.

    Can you explain what happens.

Does water stop dead & not another drop for 5 minutes or so? Or do you still get a dribble when it acts up?

Water starts then cuts out so I take head off and bring it down low & water starts again but when I put it back up it water cuts off completely.

First photo shows the inside of an old AS2000XT. I've marked in red where the inlet pipes go. Either top or bottom. Usually we use the top ones.

The second photo shows a white plug there should be a white plug in the two inlets that aren't in use. If there is no plug then the shower will suck in air creating an airlock My guess is that the plumber didn't fit the plugs

Triton will charge you a call out fee if the plumber didn't use the plugs. I'd double check that the plumber used the plugs before calling Triton

You can download the fitting instruction HERE You want page 9 Fig 13

I already had Triton service man out because of terrible noise from shower he said that plumber never fitted the blanks and must have thrown them out. He charged me 70euro for call out as this was not covered by guarantee. I contacted plumber and he eventually came and fitted the blanks and was at the shower for a long time. The shower still makes a terrible noise but it is the water that is the problem now & plumber says I am to contact Triton for a service call.

I hope your plumber refunded the €70 as he didn't read the instructions.

It's possible that the air getting sucked in has damaged the pump. Triton will charge you another €70 call out if it's not the shower at fault or if the pump is damaged due to it not being installed correctly originally.

Another possibility it that the thermostat on the immersion is not working & the water is too hot. Again this will suck in air. Also if the water is too hot it will damage the wax cartridge.

Even if the water isn't too hot it can suck in air if the plumber took the hot supply from the wrong spot.

Notice I keep saying sucking in air? I could be wrong as I'm not standing in front of it but it doesn't sound like an issue with the shower. It sounds like it's sucking in air & with the plugs in where they are supposed to be that more or less rules out the shower unit.

Sleeper12 thank you very much for your advice. I sent the 70 euro bill to the plumber. It definitely does seem like a plumbing issue and not an issue with the shower. You are very knowledgeable and I am very grateful to you.

Hi Sleeper 12, I am having the same issue as others have had with the AS2000XT shower. I will try and send you some photos of the shower inlet connections. I appreciate and assistance.

I think you need 50 posts before you can post photos. Maybe you can send them via pm
