    Evening All,

    So I've a bit of a dilemma ...

My contract is up in the next month and I'm youtubing phone reviews like there is no tomorrow ...

The Samsung S9 and S9+ and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro have caught my eye.

With the sale of my curent phone(s7) I can afford all 3 phones ...

my other half has had the Huawei P9 and the P10 and loved/s both.

The P10 has what seems to be a known issue where the camera goes blurry and dropping the phone from standing forward onto its face with the camera on refocusses the camera ...

Even with this, I asked here today, when she is due an upgrade what will she go for and without drpping a heartbeat she said the next Huawei.

Me, Ive had an S7 for the last 2yrs and have been very happy with it.

I wouldnt class myself as a heavy user but I manage not to get a whole day out of my battery, I use it in work for listening to spotify (on bluetooth headphones so lack or presence of a headphone jack isnt an issue).

I play simple game, nohing thats overly heavy on graphics

I use a wireless charger in work and realise the Mate 10 Pro doesnt offer wireless charging.

I'm looking for some opinions on 1 or more of the phones listed above or even alternatives...

If someone had the Mate 10 Pro and changed to the s8(+) or s9(+), I'd like yo hear your opinion.

I've had a Sony before and wasnt to keen on it. Had a look at the HTC U11 and nto sure how I feel about the look of it.

Any feedback at all would be appreciated

There's very little to separate top phones these days, all are pretty decent. I don't think you'd regret buying either.

Regarding HTC, there will be a U12 out very soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has similar design to the U11+.

The P10/Pro is about to be superseded by the P20/Pro, so I'd keep the togs on and the powder dry for the time being.

How is it mean to compare against the s9's or the p10 pro?

Apologies, I didnt see the link in the previous post ...

So I took the opportunity to visit a few phone shops today to go check out the phones...

Most shops had the S9 and S9+ with a big clunky block attached at the back so it was hard to guage how thwy felt in the hand...

But there was one store that had one of each attached to a lead with an extra S9+ not connected to anything at all.

So it was a nice change to get a feel for the phone, and while the size of the S9+ was something I was a little concerned about ... Its not too big after all...

It was much more difficult to find a mate 10 pro but an employee of a vodafone store was using one as his own phone so he gave me the phone to get a feel for it.. Nice phone, again just about the limit of where I want my phone to be sizewise but not too big... he mentioned as a light user he can go 24hrs and have 40% battery left so it might negate the lack of wireless charging.

From reading the above it seems the main diff betweent eh P10 and P20 will be the camera setup... camera doesnt bother me as much, I'm not a pro photographer so once a picture is decent I'm happy ... but similar to the s8 / s9 situation, I'm upgrading on a 24month contract, so I'll go with the latest version rather than starting behind in versions ...

So when the upgrade is due ... and if I've decided huawei, I'll wait till the P20 is avail if it looks like it will hit Ireland in the not too distant future, If its Samsung ... it will be s9+

Very little difference in how the phones feel, the samsung just seemed a little smoother screen wise and transitioning through apps
