Does anybody here play SWOS (96-97 Version)?

I'm finding it incredibly frustrating and seem to be making no progress. It's odd considering I remember being reasonable at it 20 years ago (for example, I used to be able to win the Scottish Premier League every year and compete well in the Champions League as Hibs/Hearts). I'm doing the same stuff as I used to do, albeit my memory is probably a little rusty after two decades, but it just doesn't seem to work anymore.

I seem to dominate possession and I have a fair few shots (I usually try the angled shots towards the far post from the edge of the D) as I remember those used to be effective but there always seems to be a defender lurking back who heads clear or the goalkeeper just saves everything. Then the other team scores ludicrous shots from 30 yards away.

I win a couple of games and then everything goes downhill and I keep getting hammered even by rubbish teams. I've tried with Celtic, Milan (as I read they're the best team in the game), PSG, Rangers, Shamrock Rovers, Cork City, Rosenborg, Real Madrid all to no avail. And the injuries are just a joke; at least one every game if not two or three and this is without dribbling as I remember that causing injuries.

Any tips/advice or should I just bin what oddly appears to be a ridiculously hard game (odd because as I said I remember being reasonable at it).
