    Afternoon All
I was wondering if anybody came across the 90 day rule for expired car insurance?
8 years insured no claims penalty points etc etc
Car insurance ran out 6 Dec 17 because was in the middle of looking for a newer car...Looking to insure it now.Insurance company looking to charge high price because policy lapsed more than 90 days....any ideas?

Well there are no days grace with car insurance. Most will normally just renew if it's a couple of days late but 3 months late is never going to be renewed - it's always going to be considered new business. All you can do is shop the market like anyone else. Your bonus lasts for 2 years though not all insurance companies accept a gap in cover (but most do)

you dont lose your NCB until after being uninsured for 2 years. So you can still shop around for new insurance with your NCB

Probably a good thing. You will end up getting a better deal with a new company.
