Find cud balls when pushing in silage this winter. Doesn't seem to be doing them any harm anyways whatever it is, they are doing a thrive but what is reason for it?

    Consider acidosis.

Silage pH or chop length may be an issue. Try adding in hay/straw +/- free choice bicarb licks. If causing a problem have your vet out to investigate.

Was at a dairy farm last week where cows were being fed finely chopped precision chop silage and there was plenty of cud balls on the cubicles.

I gave them hymalian rock salt found it worked a treat to stop them spitting up cud balls
