Anyone know the current wait time to exchange a UK driving licence?

    I've just realised my UK licence is up in the middle of May and I'm going away at the start of May and will need a valid licence for the month while I'm there.

    The stated processing times to exchange a foreign licence are 1-3 months, just wondering if anyone has done it recently and could tell me how long they waited?

    Can you not renew the UK licence and then when you get home following your trip away in May, exchange it for an Irish licence?

    I don't think so, it says I need to be resident in Great Britain. I've lived here for nearly 10 years now.

    My wife and I have both exchanged our UK licences recently, in each case it took about 2 weeks. The quoted time is based on how long the issuing authority takes to respond to the exchange request, and DVLA seems to be generally quite quick

    I managed to get a cancellation appointment this morning and got it all sent off so I have about 8 weeks from now to get it back. Fingers crossed!
