Xiaomi Redmi 4a - microphone issue

Hi all, just looking for some help. I purchased the Xiaomi Redmi 4a phone last October. For the last few months, whenever I take a call the person calling me can not hear me speak.

I've done the hardware tests and the microphone is working fine. I've also tried the internet-found solution of turning off the microphone access for the Google apps as this apparently interferes in some cases. However, this didn't work for me either.

Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know how to fix it?

could try using bluetooth earphones that have a mic.

or borrow one to see if that solves it.

but if the mic works not sure what the issue is.

could also try a factory reset on the phone in settings. (will wipe apps) so will have to relogin to google etc.

Interestingly, I noticed today that people can hear me speak when connected to bluetooth in the car. So, like in your first reply, Glasso, that is the ideal short-term solution. Just connect bluetooth earphones for calls.

another suggestion is to try another phone dialer app from the appstore and make the the default dialer.
may not make any difference but no cost to try it.

Same Issue on my Redmi 4 Prime on Vodafone 4g. I have now resorted to swapping sim into a Lumia 650 and it is infinitely better.

Tried this but it didn't work for me. When I put my calls on bluetooth OR just put my phone on loudspeaker then people can hear me so that's what I'm doing for now!!
