How to clone HDD to SSD

Hello all, I require assistance from the hive mind.

Recently bought a 525BG SSD to install into 2 y/o Lenovo Yoga 2 13" laptop. I was looking to clone the HDD onto the SSD and then just open it up, unplug HDD, install SSD, close her up and then for everything to work, without having to reinstall windows (or anything else for that matter).

The reason why I want and need to clone as well is that the laptop doesn't have a CD drive and consequently I don't know how else to transfer the data but to clone.

Anybody have any idea how that would be achieved?

    Thanks in advance.

That’s an m.2 card are you sure sure your laptop has a port for it?

If so install it and clone as you would normally the laptop will see the drive just use whatever cloning software you have most drives come with some.

I would always say that it's a good idea to do a reinstall when changing a disk. It's nice to clean up crap that has built up and possibly slowing down your system. As for transferring files, what is the size of the files you want to transfer? Is it possible to use a USB stick for this? You can pick up very large sticks for not much money these days.

Fresh install the OS from an image on a USB stick (Rufus is a good free tool) and then just copy the data you want. It'll take longer but the laptop will be better for it. Get yourself a sata to USB connector for a couple of quid to copy the data from the old disk.
