While playing rugby yesterday I got home to find a bad bite on my back leg. Now it's swollen pretty bad and the bite mark is now black. The swelling is like a lump of about 12cm wide.
Any experts. We train near to the dodder about 100metres from the water.

    To the doctors with you.
Could be just a bad reaction to the bite but why risk it (hard to see clearly in the small image, can you post a larger image not using photobucket)

Looks like a typical bite that has been scratched and broken, leading to blackening. Anthisan cream of the like should do it. But medical advice is banned on Boards so if in doubt ask at a pharmacy.

Haven't scratched it at all. It's not itchy. Just extremely painful.

Upload to imgur.com and post the link here in I think tags Painful could be indicative of some types of bites that can be dangerous if not treated (like false widow) but a wasp sting is painful but harmless for most people But a better image and visit to the doctor or chemist as someone said (would they have enough experience?) is the best option But could be just a bad reaction, is that a rash around the bite?

Does it look like a bulls eye?

If it does then it could be a tick bite

Ice it and look for advice from a professional tomorrow.

Not a rash. That's the swelling. It's expanding since the pic was taken.

I've had a tick bite before. Doesn't look like one I've gotten before. Very peculiar. I've been bitten by a spider before on my leg and it looks similar but I wasn't on the ground so I don't know how it got me. I'll be going to doctor tomoro. I know I can't get medical advice here. So il be going to doctors tomoro morning to get looked at. ðŸ‘ðŸ»

This sounds very like the reaction you had to a bite back in 2014 in the same circumstances, and around this time of year. What did that turnout to be?

Best get it checked out. It’s now tick season so always best to get it checked out

That turned out to be a horsefly bite. And a bad reaction to it.
But I havint seen any of them about. But it would explain as I'm not far from water and that's normally where I see them.
All will tell tomoro when I go to the doctors.
    Thanks

That's exactly what I suspected. Clean the area with clean warm water, don't scratch and apply a cold compress or ice pack for 10 minutes at a time.

Girlfriend is a nurse. She's cleaned it throughly but still hasn't seen this type of bite before

    Hows the leg?

    Hows the leg?

Swelling has gone down but the redness has spread at least 5 inches on both sides. On 2 antibiotics and a steroid cream.

Did they say what type of bite it was?
