Noticed about 6 Superchargers at applegreen Castlebellingham today. Are we expecting a flood if model 3s onto the market?

Never mind the Model 3, the existing Model S and Model X could become a lot more common soon.

Tesla Model S is the best selling EV in the Netherlands. Because of zero BIK, it's an ideal choice of executive company car. Wait till this becomes more known amongst Irish exectutives, although it would be hard to get them out of their shiny 520d tractors :p

I'm sure Model 3 will be popular here. Model S and X are also becoming more common. The supercharger network is a huge and unique selling point and it will keep on growing as Tesla sells more cars.

Compare it to the public charger network in Ireland. Often just a single charger overing a large area. It's like they're not expecting people to buy EVs or to use the network.

Don't have a Tesla, likely never to have one, but curious.

I take it these are all privately installed by Tesla? Do they have to buy the spaces from Applegreen?

Also, how fast do these things charge compared to the standard fast chargers for other EVs?

Only if they can manage to build them and stay in business. They are turning out less than 700 model 3s per week at the moment. Well short of the 2500/week promised for March.

450-600 km/h depending on whether the car has dual onboard chargers or not.

They don't buy the land, generally they come to some agreement with the landowner.

Peak power is 130kW but realistically most Teslas top out just below 120kW and taper down.

In real terms it's at least double the speed of the non-Tesla chargers. Especially in Ireland since most of ours are old units that deliver 43kW-45kW. And taper off quite quickly.

Onboard chargers not relevant for DC charging, that only impacts AC charging. Single charger - 11kW, Dual Charging - 22kW, and that's on the older cars.
The facelifted models charge at 11kW or 16kW respectively.

They're behind, they've been behind with most other predictions / schedules over the years. The company as a whole and Musk in particular are too optimistic

That said, they achieve pretty much everything they said to achieve - eventually. And making 700 cars a week is mass-manufacturing.

I agree that they're too optimistic, don't they say that Musk "promises Mars but delivers the Moon".

The risk here is that investors could get tired of fronting Musk cash. I've said before that these two quarters and in particular Model 3 deliveries are essential for confidence staying in the company.

The "eventually" at the end of your post is the problem, time/money may run out before it can get there. The future of a lot of model X's on Irish roads is by no means assured, for the above reason.

At some stage they’ll either need to serious ramp up or they’ll run into liquidity problems and

They've already seriously ramped up by producing 700 of what seem to be good quality cars per week. And I'd say Tesla will have no problems attracting capital, if the usual ways runs out, they'll find another way. How many hundreds of thousands of people were willing to put in a €1,000 deposit to just be on the waiting list for Model 3?

As far as I know Castlebellingham isn't actually open yet, unless it opened today.
