Putting in a dimmer switch. Is it that easy?

So... do you just take off the switch box and put on a dimmer switch box. Then get the appropriate bulb!

The fact that you call it a switch box makes me think you shouldn't do it.
If it is just a single gang switch then it's relatively simple. If you are going to use LED's then you will need an LED compatible dimmer switch.

    Aido might be right.
I thought it was as simple as it gets an dwoudl just do it myself.

I have a sort of functioning switch in my box room for past ~2 years as a result. it turns On/Off, most of the time, and seems to have a high and low light setting, with no middle brightness; it may be an LED bulb, actually which could be part of the issue (but I think I tried a few different bulbs at the time)
I really need to fix it, or maybe just get in somebody who is not an idiot like myself.
