    Hi All,

I am thinking of importing a skoda superb sportline petrol dsg either 150 bhp or 220 bhp option from uk.
currently running the figures but cant find vrt for the 220 bhp version on the vrt website.
The 150 bhp version is comming in at € 3,700
So I dont want to import the 220 version and then get very nasty suprise.
Has anyone on here brought one in and paid the vrt ?

    Thanks

Is there a 220 version sold new in Ireland? How new a car are you looking to import?

    Hi Colm,

No i cant see the 220 listed on the skoda irish price list. They have an 280 bhp 4 x 4 but not sure id be safe in that beast :D
Does a car have to be for sale in a country to get vrt to quote ?

No, but it would give you a good benchmark for guessing the new price.

Are the emissions bands the same between 150 and 220?

How much extra was/is a 220 vs 150 new in the uk?

    The 150 emissions are - 123 g
    the 220 emissions are - 148 g

150 is 31,000 sterling and 220 is 32,270 sterling so not much in it.

Ok, so it’s 23% VRT on a 220 vs 18% on a 150, so not even allowing for increased OMSP there’s an extra €1000 in the VRT - and allow another €500 for the increased OMSP being a 220 model and you should be ok. So €5200.

This isn’t an exact science though!

Just check the spec when you bring one in. As standard be irish cars miss Nav of the UK sportlines but are much better equipped otherwise. Many have the options ticked so try find one with the heated seats, front sensors, reversing camera etc the Irish ones have.

If it’s a Sportline it likely to be a 2017. With the 280 retailing at 50k I’d guess a 220 would be 45k if they had sold it here

I’d guess revenue would have a 2017 at 35k so 23% of that would be 8000 vrt

They are a great car but as they aren’t sold here I’d be nervous about buying one personally. I have a 150 diesel myself but would have considered the 1.4 if I wasn’t doing big mileage

Meant to say U.K spec is quite different, gets sat nav, but misses kessy, rear camera, heated seats, boot handles for rear seats, front sensors. Not sure about electric seat either. Also not sure if Skoda Connect is standard in the U.K. A lot of cars have factory extra which is great but you’ll pay VRT on these extras too

The 2018 Irish spec cars come with 19inch alloys and pano sunroof as standard also.

Wow €8,000 vrt would definatly take all the good out of importing the 220.

I just couldnt hand that over for a tax that is propably illegal anyway:eek:

Its the unknown element that is very offputting, 150 it is so.

Thanks for taking time to answer

I just checked the vrt calculator and don’t see a Sportline 1.4, only an SE model. Still for the SE the open market valuation is really low - 18k for a 2017 dsg. Be careful with assuming a Sportline would
be the same valuation as revenue will look at the retail new price which must be around 40k
