Wonering if ayone has come across this and may offer advise before I call in a professional.

This morning we noticed that the 2 upstairs toilets are not filling back up after a flush and are now completely emtpy.

Dowstairs toilet is fine and working as it should.
Taps / shower all working fine.
Checked the tank in the attic and it looks ok, filling up when float is pushed down etc.

    What gives??

Does the pipe have a little service valve before it goes into the toilet

No, just copper pipe from the wall to a chrome bendy pipe.

check the ball cock for dirt it might unscrew if you can figure out how to turn the water off first it’d be less dangerous. Might be a valve in the hot press.

probably air lock, I take it taps in bathroom are working? If so, simply turn on cold tap and hold you hand over the spout... depends where the airlock is, but if its past the cold water tap, it should just unlock the airlock...

    Yeah, taps are ok.

ok, like I said then, put your hand over spout, turn on cold water tap, hold hand over tap until you start to hear water pouring into cistern...

    Should it take long?

Ballcock has dirt in it. You won’t blow an airlock from a tank fed pipe using another tank fed pipe. They are the same pressure.
Go to hot press. Turn off cold.
Unscrew ballcock inside cistern. Being careful to note how it goes back together.
Take a little rubber flap out. Blow through it. Clean it.
Put it back together turn on the water.

What are the odds of this happening in 2 toilets on the same morning though?

Tanks are emptying due to water restrictions. A bit of dirt from the top of the water level gets into pipes. The ballcock has a very narrow rubber or plastic washer in it. It happens all the time.
It could still be an airlock but from the ops situation it will only be solved by opening a pipe which I think should be left to an experienced person.

Thanks for the advice lads but I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a plumber involved.

Happened to me yesterday, both toilets upstairs and cold tap. I just ran all the cold taps for a minute in the house and it cleared the airlock. Toilets refilling and cold taps upstairs working now.
