Concealing TV cables

We have a flat screen mounted on the wall over a disused fireplace. The tv power cable and HDMIs etc are currently running down the wall and can be seen easily.
We are painting the room shortly so I wanted to do a job concealing the cables. I was thinking I could drill a hole into the chimney, fees the cables in that way and then pick them up in another hole at the base of the chimney near the floor. Is there an easier way?
Chimney is not used anymore and there is an electric fire mounted on the wall which we hardly ever use other than for the effect with no heat.
    Thanks

its very difficult to drill into a chimney. Firstly finding the center of the flue; secondly the depth is substantial.
If you miss the exact center, the drill can slide off the edge of the chimney liners and break.

just use some plastic trunking, it will take paint, and doesn't look too bad.
