Petrol usage. Motorway vs city

Hi all. I am driving 2lt Mondeo 05 automatic on the motorway. Works out around 180km over and back on daily basis at speed 100-120 km/h. It takes about an hour and a half one way.
Now i got an opportunity to move closer to work and will be doing 17km one way and 17km back, but through the city and with all the traffic fun. I think this will be taking about an hour each way or so. Time wise is more or less the same.

My question is, where would I use more petrol? While driving an hour on motorway or spending similar time in the city jam?
    Thanks

If you're asking if you fuel bill will be lower when you're doing 30km a day comparing to 180km a day, then answer is yes - it will be significently lower.

BTW - if you do 180km a day, which is 90km one way, how do it take 1 to 1.5 hours at speeds of 100-120km/h? Somehow numbers don't match here?

You can try https://www.viamichelin.ie/web/Routes to get an understanding of the estimated fuel cost.
But until you do actual measurements you won't know.

I'm sure it takes some time to get onto the motorway, and then off at the other end... No need to take the post so literal. It still works out as mostly motorway driving in one hand, and the other urban.

    9 litres 100km approx for a 2 litre auto mondeo 2005

    = 16 litres approx for 180 km

versus about 3 or 4 for the 30 km trip

so youll save about 12 litres a day - approx 15.00 euro

    roughly !

Thanks everyone for your help. I didn't realise my question was somewhat unclear so I tried to edit it.

Per kilometre obviously you’ll use more in town, but you’re doing way less kilometres to start with so you’ll spend less on your 17 journey.
