BMW E91 battery

    I have two electrical issues with a 141hp 2011 E91

When I press start in the mornings, the glow plug light comes on and there is a delay in the engine firing.

Also, if I turn the engine off and keep the radio on, the battery light comes on after two minutes.

Is this a sign that the battery is on its way out?

I would think so, best get the battery voltage tested. Cold conditions kills batteries, so you won't be the only one who has a dead battery in the last couple of weeks!

would that likely be be the issue with the glow plugs as well, just an ageing battery taking time to heat them up?

It seems like a reasonable conclusion to make to me. I presume all is fine when the car is running?

it is, other than the usual BMW traits, it runs perfectly.

The new bmws with that engine fitted all do that on cold mornings with the glow plug light they give it a split second and then fire up that’s actually just like turning the key in a older car and waiting for the glow plug light to go out. So that’s completely normal.

Secondly on the battery warning coming up yes this is a sign ur battery is on the way out and if u haven’t already experienced it u will very soon is the clock on the dash starts resetting itself very common on all newer bmws.
