Trying to upload jpeg and they're too big?

trying to upload pics that are coming up as 5.66 mb when limit is 4mb. I've tried cropping but when I upload, the original uploads.
Help?

Can you then save them again as x pic resized? I tried cropping on my phone but when I uploaded it went back to original.

If you're doing it on phone, an app like Photo Editor for Android or Simple Resize for iOS might do what you need.
