Allegation of Assault - No word from Garda

Involved in minor incident several weeks ago , Got a solicitors letter soon after saying to stay away from the other party and that they have lodged a formal complaint with the Gardai - Several weeks have passed but no contact from Gardai - The letter contains a very overstated/exaggeration version of what actually happened , Surely if it was such a serious assault I would have heard from the Gardai by now ... Any thoughts guys.
Question is generally how long should it take Gardai to investigate something like this assuming the complaint has been made in the 1st place.

The time limit only applies to minor assault doesn’t it?

OP the only people who will tell you if there is an investigation is the Gardai, not a solicitor. In the mean time if you are concerned I’d write down your version of events so that if you are contacted by Gardai you have a clear, detailed outline of your version. Also if you are contacts by Gardai seek professional advice before making a comment / statement.

It is very foolish to make a statement in the circumstances. Admit nothing. A person should go and see a solicitor before saying anything to the guards.
