    Just had an operation today. I was told I would need to be off work for a week. Would I be entitled get any form sick pay? My wife is working and I have two kids .

    Not entitled for anything off the state if it is 6 days or less off work.

    Does your employer not pay you for it,

    Illness benefit doesn’t pay for the first 6 days but put in an application anyway and if you have a contract that doesn’t mention sick pay, and you have no other income in your house, then you need to make an appointment to see the CWO at your SW office to get a SWA payment to pay rent and bills while you wait to go back to work.
